Your chef is Chris Stockdale, described as the most creative passionate chef ever, the man behind the award-winning ‘Little Jean’ in Double Bay, Sydney brings his much loved modern, fresh & seasonal take on food to the Wallingford Kitchen.

Chris’ menu is listed in the 2018 international edition of ‘Where Chefs’ Eat,’ revered by global cheffy peers and Broadsheet recognised Chris for ‘best breakfast’. He has been featured in Time Out, Vogue Living, Simon’s Food Favourites blog, Scott Bolles’ Short Black column in SMH and The Good Food guide.

Chris’ menus will focus on seasonal produce, driven by the local Wallingford surrounds with an emphasis on foraging and the use of small passionate, ethical artisans; these hunters, fishermen & cheese makers love their craft. Truffles, herbs and vegetables will predominantly be picked from our very own garden with our Angus beef ultimately sourced from Wallingford farm. Wallingford is fully licensed and has an excellent cellar section of reasonably priced beer, wine and spirits. Because of this, BYO is not offered as an option. We hope you understand!

Wine Tasting

Hawkes Bay is home to many accomplished wines, and you can taste them in the formal surrounds of the drawing room, or the relaxed setting of our pool pavilion.

The house wine at Wallingford wine is supplied exclusively by Ngatarawa Winery. Ngatarawa grow on the Gimlett Gravels, an area in Hawkes Bay that is now world-renowned for producing exemplary wines.

The sophistication of our region’s viticulture is acknowledged globally, with Hawkes Bay wines matching Bordeaux wines in blind tastings held in France. This is particularly true for those from the Gimlet Gravels growing area, which includes Vidal Estate, Villa Maria Estate, Cornerstone, Mission Estate, Craggy Range, Pask Winery, Trinity Hill, and Ngatarawa Estate among others.
